    Article Summary

    Daily Training Bulletins (DTB’s)

    General Notes on DTB’s

DTB’s are issued to the Agency around the 15th of the month. This allows time to modify DTBs before issuance. Packages remain in the draft status until the package is processed.

DTB’s typically follow this monthly rollout:

    30 – LE 20 – Custody 10 – Fire

DTB’s are all unique – no repeats or reruns, fully customizable by the agency, scenario based, linked directly to the Policy Manual. Finally, DTB’s follow the IRAC methodology:

    I – Issue R – Rule A – Analysis C – Conclusion

    DTB Flags -

Red Dot next to a DTB refers to Policy that has not been issued, has been heavily modified or removed by this Agency. The options are:

    • If necessary, modify the DTB to be relevant to policy IF the policy is being used. (If the policy isn’t relevant for the agency, see the next bullet point for instructions). Once modified, checkmark the box for the DTB and then clear the flag using “Clear Selected Flags” blue button.

    or

    • Remove the DTB with a checkmark in the box for that DTB and using the “Remove Selected” blue button.

Yellow Dot next to a DTB refers to Policy that has been modified and may not be in alignment with current Agency content. (Typically, these are still applicable.) The options are:

    • If necessary, modify the DTB to be in complete alignment with current policy, checkmark the box for the DTB and then clear the flag using the “Clear Selected Flags” blue button (same as above) or

    • Without modifying, checkmark the box for the DTB and then clear the flag using the “Clear Selected Flags” blue button or

    • Remove the DTB with a checkmark in the box for that DTB and using the “Remove Selected” blue button.

No flag indicates there have been no modifications and the DTB aligns with current policy.

    DTB Issuance

Once the DTB package is worked (clearing flags, removing flagged DTBs, editing DTB’s, etc.) Follow these steps to issuance:

    1. Set all the DTB’s in the package to “Approved”.

      1. Check the very top square on the left side under the package Name (i.e. Package: DTB-TX-LE-2023-04) and this will check all the DTB’s.

      2. Click “Set to Approved” Blue button.

    1. Click the Tab “Manage DTB Packages” to return to the package screen.

    2. Choose the first Grey Button “Issue DTB Package”.

    1. Choose the appropriate option:

      1. Issue to all DTB Exam takers (DTBs will be received by anyone with a DTB Start Date and marked a DTB Test Taker).

      2. Select DTB groups (DTBs will be received by the selected group only).

      3. Select Individual DTB exam takers. (DTBs will be received by the selected individuals).

    1. The package will process and typically reflects “Issuing” until complete. The “Issue DTB Package” button is cleared until Issuing is completed.

Reminder: This relates to Policy Groups. As mentioned previously, regardless of which option for the DTB Issuance is selected, if Policy Groups exist, the process checks the policy groups and the DTB’s are distributed based on what is defined for that group of users. Policy Groups are the highest priority, and you can refer to the diagram in the Policy Groups section to get a visual of the hierarchy.

    DTB Troubleshooting -

All users must have a DTB start date and marked a DTB Test Taker to receive DTB’s.

If the DTB start Date wasn’t entered correctly, or was entered in the future, revising/entering a DTB start date will issue out DTB’s to that user.

Setting the date in the future does not work and the DTB’s will not be received.

If the user has a DTB start date, but never received DTB’s:

    • Alter the DTB start date (usually 1 day forward or backward).

    • Ensure DTB Test Taker is checked and then submit.

    • The user will receive DTB’s immediately.

    Or

    • Remove the DTB start date and uncheck DTB Test Taker then submit.

    • Go back in and add the DTB start date, check DTB Test Taker then submit.

    • The user will receive DTB’s immediately.

If policy groups are being used:

Users should have been added to the appropriate group at setup. If this did not occur the user may receive DTB’S that they weren’t intended to receive. They will need to work those DTB’s and once added to the appropriate group then going forward, they will only receive DTB’s related to what policies/DTB topics were defined by the Policy Group.
