Looking for a way to upload a PowerPoint file with audio to a course? This tutorial will show you how to run a presentation that has an audio file inserted.
To run your presentation with audio, you can save your presentation as a movie file first, then upload the file to Academy.
For users on the Windows operating system, follow the steps below to convert a PowerPoint file to a video file:
- Open your presentation file on your computer
- On the File menu, click Save & Send.
- Under Save & Send, click Create a video.
- To display all video quality and size options, under Create a video, click the Computer & HD Displays down arrow.
- Click the Create Video button button to start your video conversion.
- In the File name box, enter a file name for the video, browse for the folder that will contain this file, and then click Save.
For users on the Mac OS X operating system, follow the steps below to convert a PowerPoint file that has a background soundtrack into a video file: :
- On the File menu, click Save as Movie.
- To add a background soundtrack, click Movie Options
- Click Movie Settings
- Under Media settings, on the Background soundtrack pop-up menu, click Select soundtrack.
- Click the Save button to start the conversion.
NOTE:
The Mac version of Microsoft PowerPoint doesn't support on-page audio conversion currently. If you're using a Mac device and you'd like to convert a PowerPoint file with audio inserted in slides, one option is to export all slides as .JPG files, and upload them as individual pages via the Custom Course Tool in Academy. You can then upload each audio file that corresponds to each slide/page. This format also helps ensure your students review each slide and audio file within the presentation.
